My Reason collects no personal data and requires no account. Full stop. Here's exactly what that means and how the app works.
On-device only
Your goals, photos, the people you dedicate them to, and your reminders are stored and processed entirely on your iPhone. There is no cloud upload, no server, and no account — My Reason has nothing to sync, because it never leaves your device.
Screen Time data
My Reason uses Apple's FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity frameworks to pause distracting apps during hours you choose. All of that app-activity and app-limit data is handled solely by those on-device Apple frameworks. My Reason never collects, sees, transmits, stores, or shares it — it never leaves your device.
Health data
If you create a health-based goal, My Reason reads your step count and sleep data from Apple Health, with your permission, to show progress. That data is read on your device, is never written back to Health, and is never transmitted, stored on a server, sold, or used for advertising or marketing. You can revoke access at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
Notifications
Reminders you schedule are delivered by your device. When a reminder includes a photo of the person you're doing this for, that photo is attached locally on your device and is never uploaded.
Subscriptions
My Reason offers an optional subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple — we never see or store your payment information. We receive only whether an active subscription exists, and that check happens on your device.
No tracking, no ads, no data sale
There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party trackers in My Reason. We never sell your data, to anyone, for any reason. My Reason is supported only by an optional subscription — nothing else.
Self-directed use
My Reason only limits the device it's installed on, at that device owner's own initiative. It does not monitor, manage, or transmit data about any other person or device — there's no remote dashboard, no linked accounts, and no way to use it on someone else's phone.
Children
My Reason is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, regardless of age. Screen Time authorization is handled entirely by Apple's individual, device-owner authorization flow — My Reason simply asks for the permission Apple's system presents.
Your control
Every limit in My Reason is one you turned on, and you can turn it off at any time. Deleting the app removes all of its on-device data — there's nothing left behind, because there was never anywhere else for it to go.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, we'll update the effective date above and post the new version at this same address. We won't change the substance of these commitments without making that change clear.
